Ah. I never thought I'd get to write those words. I'm both excited and relieved. And today I'm going to take a day off from writing.!!!
In other news, I've been put on a waitlist for Bread Loaf. Which means if someone who was invited decides not to go, I may have a chance to get in. On the postive side, going to the mountain in 2006 was one of the most validating experiences I've had and on the negative side it's a lot of money to go as a contributor. I'm not going to worry about it now. If it's meant to be, it will.
I hope to dive into a couple of short story collections for Dan Wickett's May is Short Story Month, and soon I'll be scouring the internet for interviews and advice on revising the novel and who knows what else...

- Originally from Vermont, I now live in North Carolina. My work can be found in recent issues of REAL: Regarding Arts and Letters, The Jabberwock Review, The Emerson Review, Storyglossia, The MacGuffin, Confrontation, Passages North, SmokeLong Quarterly, elimae, wigleaf, and Pank, among others, and forthcoming from Gargoyle #57 and REAL: Regarding Arts and Letters. One of my stories has been translated into Farsi by Asadollah Amraee, and many others by Jalil Jafari, two of which have been published in the Iranian journal, Golestaneh Magazine. For two years I worked as an assistant editor for Narrative Magazine. Currently, I serve as a mentor for Dzanc's Creative Writing Sessions. I'm working on two novels and a short story collection. In May, I was awarded the Carol Houck Smith Contributor Scholarship for the 2011 Bread Loaf Writers' Conference.

Rusty: It's a great feeling isn't it? I'm going to take a day or so off and then I have a couple of short-story drafts in my head I'd like to get down. Then my son goes on summer break until July (he's in a year-round program) after which I'll start in on revising the novel. Or I may just start next week!
What did you do? How long did you wait until revising?

Congratulations, Katrina. I'm so happy for you! Enjoy your day "off"--I'd suggest waiting at least the week, two would be even better, before going back to your novel. Meanwhile, read some, write some, and always, always, be good to yourself :-)
I'll head right down to my local independent bookstore to purchase your novel when it comes out.
Oh man, such a loaded question for me. The short answer is I haven't revised it yet. I know what needs to be done, I think, but I have just not been able to summon the intestinal fortitude to do it. It's been over a year now. Heather was sick over this past year,and the baby came, and etc., so I have excuses if I wanted. But not really.
I hope to get on it soon. :-/
